Media Theatre

We endeavour to educate the public in a fun – and even funny – way on various issues related to our mission, and to work together with like-minded individuals and organisations.

Some of the issues we have highlighted, have been the cruelty of puppy mills, the horrors of the fur industry, the government sanctioned mass killings of predators by farmers in the Western Cape province of South Africa, and the importance of switching to a plant-based lifestyle. In so doing, we have teamed up with organisations such as Beauty Without Cruelty, which fights animal cruelty wherever it is found; BAT (Ban Animal Trading), which seeks to change South African laws about animal trading; Fur Free SA, which strives to raise awareness about the horrific fur industry; and the young group Move Beyond Factory Farming.

In other words, we seek to work together with all who promote a better world: for the planet, for the people, for the animals. If you wish to join or support our street theatre group, please contact dani@speaksa.co.za.

speak! guerrilla theatre is finding ways to take the protests to the doors of the perpetrators. The shops targeted by speak! are usually protected by mall security, who will not tolerate any 'illegal' activities such as protests, leafletting, brandishing placards, etc.

Speak! guerilla theatre has taken the protest to the doors of the petshops inside shopping malls: we want the culprits to feel the pain and not to be able to ignore the protests. We want all breeders (irrespective of the animals being bred) to be licensed and monitored by independent bodies and massive fine levied for any contravention of the law.

This is the 2nd performance of the speak! guerilla theatre to create public awareness of the plight of dogs bred for profit in 'puppy mills'.
